The Great Global Clean Up
There are a variety of clean up opportunities where you live and work. From group cleanups, to individual cleanups, to plogging (picking up trash while jogging), you can easily find something that fits your schedule during Earth Week for you, your friends, your family, and even your work family!

Reusable Masks Help
Avoid Unnecessary Waste
Reusable masks with double layers of tightly woven cotton fabric have been shown to be just as effective as single-use masks. You can easily cut back on extra waste, reduce litter; and stay safe with a reusable mask, just remember to wash it often!
Earth Day Activities
Brushing Teeth Water Conservation - Place a bowl under the faucet and brush your teeth for the full two minutes with the water running. Measure the amount of water in the bowl. Now compare that to brushing your teeth for the full two minutes with the water running only when necessary. Measure that amount and compare the two.
The Impact of Trash - Take a walk around your neighborhood and collect trash that you see on the ground. Then take the trash and place it in a container of clean water and talk about what happens to the water of the next 24 hours.
Go-Screen Free for the Day - Use less energy and unplug! Read a book, ride your bike, play a board game, make art, or anything else you enjoy that doesn't require energy. Using less energy keeps the planet and everyone on it healthier for the future!
Connect with Nature - When you connect with nature you naturally want to protect its beauty! Get outside and explore. It's a great opportunity to go screen-free and conserve energy too. Find a new trail, go to the beach, or just play games in the backyard. Share the enjoyment with your kids or children in your family and it will help them understand why the environment is SO important!
Join the Waste Not Consulting Zero Waste Home Challenge!
Global waste impacts everyone. As we near Earth Day 2021, we invite you to join the Waste Not Consulting Zero-Waste Challenge. This challenge is to help create awareness of your personal waste stream while finding solutions to reduce it.
The first step is to commit yourself to logging each and every item of food for a whole day. Start with breakfast and include everything, what you eat and what you throw away. Include one-time use throw-away items like paper plates, napkins, paper towels, and cleaning wipes.
Compile all of your packaging, paper waste, and food waste, and then take a hard look at what you have: Is there a lot of plastic? Are any of your food scraps compostable? Are your leftovers stored in plastic or glass containers? Is there a lot of paper product waste?
Once you know your food and cleaning habits and the waste you produce, you can start making some adjustments. A few examples, you can swap out one-use Ziplock baggies for reusable silicone baggies, buy bulk versus individual items, and use reusable cloths for cleaning versus one-time use throw away cleaning wipes.
But don't stop there - keep going! There are some recommendations to support your waste transformation that EarthDay.org offers on their website.
Good luck with the challenge and remember-individual actions — like reducing plastic consumption and waste - can collectively lead to change.

Happy Earth Day!
